Acne affects adults as well as teenagers.
Blocked pores in the skin cause blackheads and whiteheads. These become infected and can vary from small red pimples to large boils.
Left untreated, acne can result in scarring and often affects self-esteem and confidence.
Treatments include gels, creams, oral antibiotics, and Laser. Very severe acne requires a medication called an oral retinoid which can only be prescribed in hospital due to potential side effects and requires regular blood and pregnancy test monitoring.
Laser treatment is effective in treating mild to moderate acne where you may notice red pimples. A course of treatment significantly reduces the severity of current and future outbreaks.
